Numerical optimization of a cruise vessel propeller
A multi-objective optimization methodology for cruise ship propellers have been developed coupling the modeFRONTIER workframe and the CFD solver Simcenter STAR-CMM+. The open water characteristics for each design have been derived from a model scale simulation, while the cavitation performance and the tensional stress have been evaluated in full scale. The maximization of the hydrodynamic efficiency and minimization of the cavitation volume in the conditions of interest have been the objectives of the optimization.
